I love going to the zoo, i've been to loads and Auckland didn't disappoint.
The kiwi enclosure was a highlight, I got a great look at these wonderful yet reclusive little fellas.

I did the skippers canyon 4WD tour and the quad biking two days later, the Guides were so friendly and had so many brilliant stories about the frontier days of queenstown and the surrounding area.
the skippers canyon is amazing, I even had a go at panning for gold! The quad bike ride was really fun, i'd personally recomend a wet day so you can ride through all the puddles and splash through the mud! but thats just my opinion! Queenstown is AWESOME!

The weather on the day was pretty awful and I was not kitted out for it.
It would have been a pretty wet and cold old day if it wasn't for the friendly welcoming ladies and gents at dart stables who leant me a woolly vest, hat gloves and waterproofs! thanks guys! the horse trek was really fun, It was my first time riding a horse and it went fine! Yogi (my horse) was really laidback and easy to get along with and our Guide was entertaining and really looked after us. The weather didn't matter in the end, I had great fun in amusing company!

After reaching Queenstown I surfed the net to find some cool activities and the Funyak Safari immediately caught my eye.
You get a jet boat ride (I can't get enough of jet boating), a gormet picnic (delicious!) and the chance to canoe back down the dart river past some amazing scenery! The trip itself did not disapoint, I absolutley loved it! Our Guide was entertaining, smart and informative and just before lunch she brought us to this secret creek just off the river which was just right out of some kind of mythical land, the colour of the river was a rich green, sheer walls of rock stretching up above us, beautiful trees, and Tui's singing around us. What a trip! It's what New Zealand is all about. I'll jump at the chance to do it again when I get back to Queenstown.

I jumped off a fair few ledges in NZ but Shotover Canyon Swing was the best of the lot!
The reason is that the guys who run it are just such great fun! other jumps can be a bit formal like they are rushing you through to get as many jumps into the day as possible, Doug and the guys were more intersted in sharing in the fun and making the experience the best they could, and it was a total blast!. Don't get me wrong they are very safety conscious, but the banter is 1st class and the scope of ways to chuck yourself off the edge is huge! I'll be going back and trying new jumps when I get back to NZ! I got the added thrill of jumping when the white water rafters were paddling down the river below me and the cheer I got just made me feel awesome! Oh and I should also mention that the canyon is stunning! A really beautifull part of the world!

Kiakoura Kayaks were amazing and we were so lucky with the wildlife.
not only did we see a fur seal playing with his food (an octopus) right next to opur kayaks but then a Southern Right Whale, One of the rarest whales in the world, appeared about 20 feet away! We were so lucky and totally blown away by the experience. Even the Department of Conservation were interested in seeing our video footage! After two months in NZ my day with Kiakoura Kayaks remains one of my most cherished memories. Cheers guys!
Well Nathan you were one of the luckiest clients we have taking out, because after all my years of guiding, the encounter on this tour with the Southern Right Whale was one of my best sightings I have had. We have put some of the footage from this tour on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3-czLFTRUc). Thanks for the great review Nathan, we hope you enjoyed the rest of you holiday in NZ!!!

First time I''ve been quad biking but had so much fun I ended up going again elsewhere in NZ.
The terrain was really varied and challenging and our Guide Hollie was great company, really friendly and full of cool facts about Franz Josef. She also did a great job of teaching us how to ride the bikes and kept us safe. Then on the trip back through the forest we stopped for a snack and a hot drink and learnt a bit more about the native bush. A very cool way to blow an afternoon.
Hey Nathan
You we've got the natural instinct of driving quads, boys and toys....it was easy for me to teach you how to ride them and I'm glad you enjoyed the tour, hope to see you again one day!!!
Kind regards
Hollie

Night trip: What a cool place!
I learned loads while having a really exciting time wondering around the forest following our guide as he tracked and found kiwis, weta, rare ducks, and prehistoric lizards. I've seen kiwis in wellington and auckland zoos, but to see them in their natural habitat was the best by far. Loved it!

First time sky dive for me.
15000 ft! didn't have a clue what to expect! It started by being picked up from my hotel in a limo driven by a very attractive young lady and that set the tone for a whole morning of fun! I was teamed up with Sam who did a great job of making me feel at ease and was great company. I just listened to his guidance and let him get on with it and had a totally awesome experience! the jump was epic! I didn't have time to worry about the jump itself, Sam just did his thing and then you're flying through the air feeling the most amazing rush ever! after the jump I got a dvd of the the jump which was really well put together, I even got to choose the background music! Oh and my Sky Dive Taupo Hoodie is one of my favourite items of clothing, (you get a free tee-shirt included in the price of the jump, or you can get a hoodie instead at a discount price) its almost constant in all my photos for the rest of my trip in NZ. Cheers guys, I had a blast!
Hi nathan, many thanks for your review, I will be sure to pass on your regards to Lucy - our limo driver! Glad to hear that Sam made you feel at ease, as he's good at his job hey! Freefall does feel like flying - thats what we always tell people as you dont realise you are actually falling at 200 kmph. Really pleased you enjoyed your DVD we do think we have an awesome product and unique to Taupo being able to choose your own music. You should send us a pic of you wearing your hoodie and post it on our facebook page! Enjoy the rest of your travels!
