We stayed here as we were going to the Hobbiton tour up the Rd which by the way is not walkable to from this location as there is no shoulder on the road at all.
The owners seem nice but it's very disorganised and there are no facilities of any kind. $40 a night is a Rip off!!

Possibly the worst place we have ever tried to stay.
Constant morons in cars with speakers mounted on the grille driving through the grounds with music blaring and every second car doing burnouts and donuts in the car park. We only tried to stay there as it's close to where we needed to drop our motorhome off, but felt unsafe and irritated, also the gates lock at 9pm at night so no escape if these idiots end up walking in in foot and doing god knows what. We ended up leaving and finding a side street away from there that we parked in for the night. Horrible place to stay for a motorhome!!

We arrived at this site early in our 6.7m motorhome to secure a good spot.
It's a rugged, beautiful coastline and having views and hearing the ocean is great. Unfortunately later in the morning a large motorhome with 2 kids pulled up and parked about 2 metres next to us when they had all the space in the world and didn't have to be that close. Later in the day there were about a dozen motorhomes staying so busy. We didn't experience any wasps and drop toilets were fine. It did absolutely bucket down rain most of the time we were there and the winds were Gail force but that's mother nature. Remote place to get to and probably worth it, just don't expect it to be uncrowded and this wasn't peak season yet
