Very basic, the only shade was taken by permanent campers but it wasn't a problem during my stay.
Clean bathrooms and powerful showers but take a torch after dark. Interesting check-in procedure where you fill out a form, put the form in with a token and cash if you have it ($5 per campsite then $10pp) or you can come back when the office is manned to pay by card. Lovely lady working there and close to town

Great location right on the beach. Basic facilities but they do the job. Nothing to complain about

Small property but can't fault it, very clean amenities block for all to use with a separate shelter with a fridge, microwave, kettle and BBQ with inbuilt pizza oven by the tent sites.
Small jetty where you can feed eels and they have their own chickens for any of your food waste to go to, and they sell the eggs too. Beware the sneaky wetas

This place is huge!
Nearly empty when we were there as well. Great sandy beach, fall asleep to the waves. Cold showers but powerful. Plenty of shade and helpful DOC staff that stay on site
