As mentioned in the description, you don't have to come to this exact pin, pick any parking area along the lake, just of course make sure you're self contained certified and whatever you take in you take
out! ✌️
This place is stunning, dead quiet and amazing star gazing on a clear night.

Real nice tidy place, well worth the $25 for a hot shower too.
You essentially pay for a parking bay of your own rather than drive and park in a communal area, which I really like. Walk in first and check for a free spot, then pay your money and fill a wee form before you drive in.
Hi James
Its great to hear you enjoyed your stay. As you say your best to explore the site on foot as many of the best sites are tucked away and you won't notice them if you just drive around.
We hope you can come back again soon

Really nice old gent greeted us on arrival, cash only $20 for the 2 of us.
Good size area with plenty space to choose from, just worth noting though that the showers take a $1 coin for 4 minutes!!!
Kinda expected the showers were included in the $20 charge as everyone on here raves about how good they are (yes they are great)
Railway runs beside it but didn't bother us at all, it was quiet.

Pretty simple parking but great for the proximity to town.
As long as you're certified self contained you can park in any of these bays. They have signage up noting self contained camping if you're wondering...
Public toilet nearby, was nice and clean.

Pay on your way in at the kiosk, EFTPOS accepted.
$20 for the two of us, plenty space and relatively clean.
Not sure it's worth the spend but I would go again, someone gotta pay for the upkeep I guess!

Well, the location on this app (as at 4th Jan 2022) is not correct.
[EDIT 15-01-22 Location now correct!]
You need to continue about 10km from the Sika Lodge down Clements road before you find the clearing.
Glad we found it but took us a fair bit of driving.
Once you're there, there's plenty space, but no water and a long drop toilet (has to be expected)
You'll be well off grid as you won't get any phone signal until you're back out on SH5.
Otherwise pleasant, would go again just for that 'get away from it all' experience.

Very clean area and beautiful spot.
Would definitely recommend if you're down south Wairarapa.
Only negative would be the long drop toilet but if you're ok with that it's a no brainer!
