The springs, the pools and the nature around are awesome.
It is peaceful and quiet all-day and the staff is very friendly. But the pitches are tiny and the bathrooms, kitchen and shower are nothing more than ok. It felt like the staff gave up cleaning, in particular at the pools. Consequently, ants and, after dark, cockroaches very present. A shambles as otherwise we would have given 9 or 10.

An absolute hidden gem.
Modern and clean bathrooms, awesome facilities, big pitches, 5 min from the beach, plenty of things to do for the kids incl. animation programme and movie nights and despite all this very calm and peaceful. We stayed for a week in Jan when every other campsite was crowded. The kids enjoyed it very much and pledged us to stay longer. Hardly ever found anything better. Only the pool is tiny and opens not before 5pm but who needs a pool when the beach is awesome and close. Only sound at night were the waves.

We haven’t been able to make a reservation so we just stopped at the different Campsites around Waihi to ask if they have a pitch available.
At TOP10 Waihi Beach they haven‘t had something but they looked this site up in their computer which is only 5 mins away and also a TOP10 campground. We were told they still have some pitches for us so we came here. First we were told rudely there is no free space available. After saying that we were told there is, the lady looked into her computer for a while and then told us, she can not give us a space because others asked earlier and she turned them around so it would be unfair. I was a bit puzzled and double-checked if there is space or not and then she said there is but that it is reserved for other purposes and she can‘t help us. Still don‘t know what went wrong but felt as if we didn‘t fit into this campsites face checks. Rude.

This is a small and friendly site with Tidy clean washrooms, which are a bit older, and amazing hot pools.
The pitch however was tiny and the place crowded in Dec. The campsite is in a cul-de-sac and is very calm but there is also nothing around in walking distance. We had a good time and the kids enjoyed the pools.
Hi Sebastian
Thanks for taking the time to place your review and comments. Your site was 71.5m2 which more than comfortably fits a 7.5m camper. I think you will find most campgrounds are very full at the end of December. Our older facilities have stood the test of time and were resurfaced a couple of months ago. The campground is ideally located for guests to enjoy the serenity of the estuary. Pleased to know you enjoyed your stay

What a lovely spot in great nature.
Plenty of space along the water and a lot of friendly people around makes it a safe spot. No facilities whatsoever and some nasty cars horning while passing by during the night. Lovely for a stopover, though.
