$10 per person, really clean drop toilets and outdoor kitchen area with sink and water (not for drinking) great to do washing up.
No issues with mosquitos or sandflies. Really nice quiet location and right next to Tekapo too!

Absolutely fantastic site, big kitchen shelter with tables for stormy days and plenty of toilets all flushing ones in use in the summertime.
Close to the walks and a walk into the village if you want to or a very short drive.

Wonderful place to stay, lots of shade and shelter in the trees.
Two clean long drop toilets, plenty of space for multiple vehicles. You do not have to be certified self contained to stay here, you can also pitch a tent here too

Great free place just outside the city!
Clean flushing toilets and a sink with tap for washing dishes.
Marks off for sheer number of mayflies, they don’t bite but so annoying that we decided to cook inside. Make sure to bring your mosquito netting and minimise opening your doors.

Good place to camp near Oamaru, lots of space in shaded trees.
Two toilets unisex and some mens urinals also, not much of an issue though as a lot of people are in caravans. Small kitchen with two cooking areas and space for washing up.

Fantastic place with large sites for your campers/tents and really clean toilets with free hot showers.
You can have your own private en suite or a shared one. Across the road from the lake, barely any noise on the road (our spot is near the back of the camp though)

Beautiful site, can’t believe it’s free!
Loads of space, a few toilets so you can camp as near or far away as you like. No issues with noise etc, lots of people coming and going very late at night and in the morning but not much of an issue

A really beautiful campsite along the highway to stop over for a sleep.
In fact, it’s a fantastic place to stay for a few nights as it’s not far from Kaikoura and Blenheim, as well as the seal colonies along the coastline.
Spacious with plenty of space for everyone, very clean facilities with 3 toilets and 3 showers as well as a sink at the back of the unit for washing up or filling up water bottles.
One downside was a train went past at 2am and the sound/rumbling jolted us awake.
If you stay around until 9 you can get something tasty from The Store.
