Tidy little spot right on the river mouth at the start of the walk out to The Three Sisters.
Has toilets and picnic tables. Ground was very boggy in some places. Also recommend going for a walk under the road bridge to the little Tongaporutu settlement - there's a signposted walkway there.
BTW the 3 Sisters are well worth it, the first 50m can be very muddy but if you take your time and stick to near the cliffs you can avoid the mud.

Shame no dogs allowed but great site on waters edge.
Clean toilets close by.
Watch out for the mosquitos though!

Nice spot but very small area, lucky to get 3 vehicles in.
Queenstown and Glenorchy do not want freedom campers no matter if they are self contained. Be aware!

Nice spot with great views.
Free so that’s a bonus. Beware that The Pines is not an apt description anymore, as all the pines have been chopped down, there are no more pines on this side of the lake (trying to curb wandering pine I think?) so it is very exposed. Great stars if you get a moonless night!

Awesome spot right on the ocean.
Good surf spot too for those keen. The toilets are bolted shut now, but we’re not not appealing anyway. Had the place to ourselves.
