Waihao Box is a great freedom camp.

It's quiet and with friendly locals.

Downside - the toilet was beginning to pong 😞

The camp was not a carpark, but paddock across the road.

While we appreciated the lovely spot, the friendly peacocks and free water supply we didn't appreciate getting bogged as soon as we left the driveway. This would be a beautiful place to stay during summer, but best left well alone through winter.

Thanks to the local AA, we were hauled out in the morning.
