This site has everything, great facilities, amazing location and awesome sites right next to the water.
Great nature walk where you can see glow worms at night and heaps of native birds during the day. We went for a walk during the day and friendly piwakawaka flew with us for the whole walk!
A pleasant surprise was the walkway that follows the coast from Picton and travels through the site. Great for day walks, runs or mountain biking.
I’d imagine it would get busy in peak season but off peak we had only a handful of other campers to share this great site with.
Is fully serviced and you pay a decent amount per night for this, but considering the location and everything it has to offer it is well worth the cost.
Be aware that the shop is only open for the busier months.

Great campground with modern and clean facilities.
Great playground for kids and lovely hot showers, even a family bathroom.
Pros: close to town, 5-10min walk to Main Street. Great facilities, even a hot tub!
Cons: expensive, was $81 for a family of 4 for a powered site which was our most pricey night. No views of the ocean and right next to railway line.

Awesome DoC campsite by the beach.
This is how campsites should be, great friendly camp manager, awesome location next the beach and plenty of sites.
Pros: cheap, great location, wildlife, great sites with every one with a water tap. Friendly helpful camp manager.
Cons: basic facilities, but you’d expect that given it’s a standard site. Can get rather busy with day trippers on the weekends taking up sites for a picnic.
