Awesome spot and we caught it on a perfect bluebird day with no wind!
We had a chat with a local who told us Porangahau is Maori for Mad Winds! There are toilets and a water fountain available. No other facilities. There was a bit of rubbish around the campsite so we spent 10mins do a quick pick up, please respect the freedom camping areas in NZ and take out what you take in so we can continue to enjoy these places. There is a great coffee spot in Porangahau township called Flotsam and Jestsam Coffee next to the dairy. He also makes pizzas which we didnt get to try on this trip but they look legit! Cant wait to go back.

Diane works at the campsite and was so great to deal with.
They had a motorcycle group staying whilst we were there and the campsite was super busy. We called ahead and Diane sorted us out with a great spot out the back. The facilities were spotless and the cleanest on our two week trip around NZ. Not a creepy crawly in sight in the bathrooms 👌will definitely be back.

Awesome place we got a campsite right by the water.
Clean facilities with hot showers. The cold water wasn't working during our stay this only affected the kitchen and laundry facilities. Would stay again!

Great spot to stay and walk the track.
We camped 2 nights and hiked the track from the campsite out to Onetahuti getting the water taxi back to Marahau at the the end of the day. Awesome facilities. Clean showers with a view of the ocean. You can buy food from the reception and they also sell meat from the farm and free range eggs.

Great spot handy to local bike and walking tracks.
We rode in the Paparoa Track on the bikes for the morning before continuing on our journey North. Great track and worth spending a couple of hours exploring at least. Awesome food truck on the campsite selling Whitebait patties and coffee, short walk to the beach. Quiet campsite with great views of the pancake rock cliffs, would stay again.

Site was quiet, good spot away from other campers.
Facilities were good although basic with an outdoor open kitchen and bathroom which was great for summer! Staff were really helpful on checkin. We biked a short distance to Mapua wharf just down the road where there is a selection of bars, restaurants and shops.
