It's a funny camping ground....
we kinda felt like we were intruding into someone's private holiday. Just had that kind of vibe. Facilities were in need of a really good clean - the bathrooms and toilets were particularly bad, we didn't venture into the kitchen. I probably wouldn't come back

Stunning beach setting - it's pretty spectacular to watch the waves crashing under the moonlight. There are flush toilets on site. BYO TP. Not super clean but the beach was packed so to be expected.
It pays to book online in advance so you can be sure of a spot and you have the gate code when you arrive.

Great location, just up the road from Cape Reinga.
It's a gravel road down to the camp site but it's in good condition. I'm not sure about tent sites but the campervan sites are flattish - bring some wheel chocks or whatever you need to make sure you're flat and level. The beach is beautiful and pounding, and the lagoon is stunning. Long drop toilets are fine and well maintained. Not super cheap at $45 per night for our family but it was a highlight for us
