Around 800 steps to climb first though ;) it’s a scenic road to get there but there a few sections of gravel road though..

Lovely large grassy area with trees and picnic tables.
2 modern flush toilets. Rubbish and recycling bins, drinking water (but not meant to refill your fresh water tank). 1 minute walk to the stone beach. Had a good swim in the waves with a superb view on Cape Kidnappers and Napier bay.

Very nice spot, crowded during the day with surfers and beach goers but quiet at night.
Tidy toilets and a cold shower useful after a dip in the salty sea!

Large grassy area for campervans and tents by the scenic road.
2 long-drop toilets were clean and not smelly. A lot of fire pits. Very close to a stone/sand river beach with cliffs enjoyed by many locals. Downside is that many cars are coming in and out making it noisy, and sometimes dodgy people drive to and make their car drifting on the gravel area... we didn’t stay a third night feeling insecure because of them.

Lovely place in the countryside.
Gravel area for campervans and plenty of grass space for tents. The summerhouse is the cherry on the cake with kettle, microwave oven and sink with cold water. Also power supply for recharging phone/tablet and a big table to plan your trip ;) picnic tables all over the place. Ducks and rabbits will be your friends. One of local top 10 loop walk in the Reserve, we didn’t do it but many locals stopped by to walk/run it. Only downside it’s close to the road where cars drive quite fast making it noisy, fortunately not many cars passing by.
Do not forget to make a DONATION.

We were alone at this large DOC campground.
Gravel area for self-contained campervans is limited though. There was a shelter with a fire pit that was cluttered with random rubbish. Total fire ban signs were displayed though. Long drop toilet is ok. No cellphone reception.

First the location of this paid campground is WRONG on the Rankers app.
It is located north of Piripiri campground and the true location is showed on the DOC website. You need to book in advance as there are different codes on many padlocks to access anything and everything. At first we were given the wrong codes ... while we were already on site with almost no cellphone reception! Price is $12 per night per person for access to the hot shower.
