We turned up at 730pm in June and got the last spot and quite a few people turned up after us. Need to be gone by 7am. It’s next to train tracks and we had two trains go through during the night but quiet otherwise.

Lovely place to stay.
Very clean and staff are great. $42 night for non powered site. It is close to a train track and there were a couple of trains go past early morning. Would definitely come back again

Great place to stay!
Quiet, peaceful. Bar and hot food available. Great free showers. Lots of room. Great place for kids. Can bring pets if approved by management. Great all round. In our opinion one of the best holiday park in NZ. Check availability through Christmas and new year’s. Plenty of trees for shelter. Free 100mb and then have to pay for extra. Data reception not the best, kinda depends on where you stand as to how good it is. Washing machine =$4 dryer =$2. $2 coins only. Friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely come back here again.

Sandfly central.
It’s a car park next to the road and the waterfall. The waterfall noise drowns out the noises of most vehicles, we could hear most trucks that drove past but there weren’t too many of those. The waterfall is beautiful but cannot swim here as there are dangerous undercurrents and signs posted. There is a toilet but it’s a hole in the ground. Free to stay. Reception for internet is great!

Definite 11/10 because it is a fantastic place to stay.
Fantastic hospitality, great to see animals around, feeding chickens and eels. Plenty of room to play. Great, new amenities. Very clean and tidy. 2 minutes from town. Showers great. $2 for 5 minutes. Can buy eggs here. Simply a fantastic spot! $18pp unpowered site.

Hot 6 minute showers. 3 min walk to town. You do need the vaccine passport to stay

Wonderful place!
Very quiet. Right by the ocean. Plenty of room on the grass between boat ramp and the changing shed. Self contained only. Beautiful rock beach. Great sunrises. Can be exposed to wind. A tavern 1km down the road with great pub food. Sunscreen and mosquito repellent needed. Beautiful star gazing at night on a clear night. Views of Stewart Island

Nice place.
Large area for a lot of campers. Next to the road so you do get road noises. We parked next to a toilet which was quite manky so we used our own. Did see another block of toilets down the other end so don’t know what those are like.

Really nice spot.
Quiet at night. Enough places for at least 12 vehicles to stay. Toilets a bit manky which is why the 8/10. Close to the ocean. Water, BBQ, toilet, cold open shower. Would stay again.

Very clean and tidy and quiet.
Would stay again. Was $44 for two on an unpowered site. Free, hot, good pressure showers. Warm swimming pool at 27C can use for free during office hours. Free wifi. Very helpful staff

A beautiful place on the sea side.
Beautiful views. Has a lookout which is a bit of a hike up a hill to get there but we’ll worth it. $1 for 6 min showers. Looks a bit old and a tad run down. We arrived at 330pm and it was full by 430pm. Looks like a lot of permanent sites.

Very beautiful place.
Lovely sunset and sunrise. We parked just by the lake. Plenty of room. When we went the toilets were under maintenance or something so they just had port-a-loos available. There is a playground for kids. Will definitely be coming back here again.

We had an unpowered site on the hillside as we didn’t want to be near the road.
Glad we did as it was nice and quiet there. Was a very lovely place. Clean and well looked after. Free showers are nice and hot. Free, unlimited wifi. Kitchen facilities were great.
A wonderfully warm review, thank you Jenna. We are looking forward to the road speed being reduced to 60km p/h on the 12th October. This will be reduce the noise impact on the lakeside sites and we hope you'll come back to try this out for yourself one day. In the meantime, safe and happy travels.
