Cute as a button!
Amenities were retro but well functioning. Very thankful that they’re dog friendly. We found a sheltered spot from the wind for our van in the back lot. Quick drive (or good walk) to Moeraki boulders. Will stay again.

Pros - Very scenic spot.
Stream and beach. Some trees for wind protection. Lots and lots of well behaved dogs, our pup loved the beach. Great dog friendly walks within a half hours drive. Cons - We stayed over New Years, so most spots were in the open. Cold and windy, but what you expect in the Catlins - bring warm layers. Longdrop toilet and non potable water.

Packed out during the first week of Jan, but we were lucky to find a nice private spot down the far right by a lake access.
Dog friendly, great swimming in the lake. Quick drive to town and nearby walks. Toilets and bins were not in good shape by the 4th Jan, but I guess that’s pay off for a free site.

Bit underwhelmed with the Top10 claim.
Found it costly and had a bit of a weird vibe. Did allow pets on application for a $2 charge. The building exteriors are a bit hotch potch with dated colours schemes which added to the weird vibe but the actual facilities inside were clean and in good condition. Probably would’ve been more satisfied with my stay if it were cheaper.

Darling community run campsite nestled between the beach and cliff.
Dog friendly and one modest little toilet. The scenery is stunning.

The view from the Bayview sites are 10/10.
We saw hectors dolphins playing in the waves from bed in the morning. The facilities are old school but perfectly functional and clean and if you can appreciate kiwi ingenuity and whimsy, you’ll find this place to be wonderfully charming. Will stay again!!

Nice little place with lots of flat spots.
Jolly windy in a Northerly, though based on our drive from Gisborne it appears this coastline is all very exposed in a northerly. The beach is lovely for a walk up to the cliffs.

Amenities are a little tired but the showers were free and warm.
Lots of permanents but it we found a lovely quiet spot under some trees. Thrilled that they were dog-friendly.

Beautiful little spot.
Had to Ford a few streams to get there which was fun. Sites are amongst the bush and trees, not suited to large campers, though a few large vehicles had parked on the beachside. Two composting toilets. Highly recommended

Nice vibe, clean area, Thankyou to the local council who clearly take time to look after the place.
Beautiful views of the bay and lots of great spots right on the beach.
