Good spot extremely close to the city!
There was even a sink and drinking water. A lovely woman from DOC came and informed us that self contained vehicles are allowed to stay ANYWHERE in the city that is council land (not on grass). There was a few small areas she pointed out as not allowed, but we stayed at the Vauxhall yacht club last night which has toilets and a beautiful view across the water at the city. Worth heading into the iSite and asking them for more information :)

One of the best places we've stayed!
You can park anywhere in the carpark so we parked by the park for something a bit prettier. Theres a sink to wash your dishes, heaps of toilets, free wifi from the library across the road which reached our car! Highly recommend the cafe Route 6 across the road, and also going to the 4sq and asking about the swimming pool! For $5 each we had the town pool all to ourselves for a couple hours including free hot showers! Best freedom camping town ever!!

Close to the water with an outdoor shower and public toilets. Had a really good experience, unlike other reviews.

Amazing spot.
On the LEFT if you are heading out of Taupō just after the bridge. Lots of private park spots right next to the river with hidden walking tracks. Best place we have stayed so far!

Places for 8 campervans.
Was really busy on a Saturday due to sport games but when all those cars left we were the only ones there all night. Toilets and water very close. Considering all the other spots in Tauranga fill up quick this was a good spot

Can walk everywhere! Lots of parks and campers were coming and going all day so easy to get a spot. Definitely recommend going to the polynesian spa across the road too!

4 spots spread around the carpark.
Was very busy with cars. There was an ice skating rink set up playing music until 10pm with lots of people coming and going to it, so we ended up leaving and going somewhere else

Really nice spot!
In a carpark with a beautiful big pond, public toilets even with a free shower. The toilets close at night but the family/disabled toilet stayed opened all night. Lots and lots of swans/ducks/geese (scary). Really nice in spring to see all the baby animals

Really easy check in and a beautiful spot with a walk throw a meadow and along the beach to get into town.
Toilets were really gross, they have showers which you pay for hot water but they were too dirty so we didnt use them. Beautiful spot otherwise

Really pretty park, toilets are far away unless you park in the carpark, as opposed to under the trees.
Good spot for a one night stop.
