We were a bit nervous about rafting and thought we'd book the family float as a first time experience.

The team at Tongariro River Rafting got in touch and convinced us that our girls, aged 12 and 14, would be fine on the whitewater rafting experience (a longer trip with more rapids), assuring us that it wouldn't be too scary for any of us. They were SO right. Awesome experience - thoroughly recommend it to anyone with a sense of adventure - and Thomo was an awesome guide. Photos were great to have as a momento, we felt completely looked after the whole way (not too safe, not too scared). Hot pools at the end were a lovely touch, as was the homemade soup and chocolate along the way. Thank you George for the assurances and fantastic communication, as well us helping us with all the gear and how to put it on, Terry for driving us around and taking great photos and Thomo for being so entertaining, for the excellent instructions, the beefy paddling that kept the raft going in the right direction, the jokes, and for making us feel like it was the best possible choice of family adventure activity possible on a cold winter's long weekend!! Nice work, team. We'll definitely be rafting again! Cheers
