You will need 3 days, the 2nd is only in the forest without viewpoints, a little bit boring.
On 1st and 3rd days great viewpoints. Very good huts, track is steep and narrow. Gives junle feeling, beware of the possums!

One of the best walks ever, but sometimes overcrowded especially on the Southern Half.
Very awesome campsites, good equipped. Track is easy to walk, combine it with a kayak trip! Would be helpful to regulate number of visitors a bit more.

Superbly equipped, some details could be better eg heater, bottle-holders etc.

Be aware!
This is not that 'swim with the dolphin' thing. But they give you a nearly 2 hour round trip around Akaroa. Views of dolphin, fur seals, penguins and a deep inside in Akaroa history. Last but not least enjoy the included drinks and cookies. For swimming with dolphins go to Black Cat Cruises. It is ok but not more.
