We've stayed all over both north and south island, this is the best kept park by far.
Outstanding. Spotlessly clean. Lovely staff. Homely kitchen and lounge. Great stop along the only route from the West Coast to Christchurch, along the Arthurs Pass Road.

People write that Top 10 are expensive, but there is a consistent quality and cleanliness which you can be almost guaranteed.
The amenities block was spotless. The family bathroom was great for our young children.
Staff were just devine, so helpful, informative, genuine and warm. Helped with advise on the Queen Charlotte Track.
Pool was anything but 'heated' though. Positively icy!

We thought that it might be a bit crappy, but it was one of the best caves we have been in.
Spectacular formations. The guide was very informative, personable, and welcoming. Brilliant experience. Lovely.

Ships Cove to Furneaux Lodge with kids (9&11).
Tough 15km walk. Well worth every second. Stunning views, beautiful forest. Little detours down into stunning coves, with turquoise blue waters. Magic.

This was our second time with Kea Campers.
The campervans are outstanding. Kea thinks of everything. We are a family of 4, there was plenty of storage space, plenty of warm duvets, plenty of towels. Little things such as wine glasses and a coffee plunger made it all the more homely. Everything inside the camper was impeccable. We had a few peeks into other companies campers as we travelled around and NONE were as good as Kea. One couple who we chatted to showed us their cupboard doors held shut with rubber bands, their heater didn't work, and they told us this whilst sipping wine from a plastic cup. Our Kea Camper was like a palace.
The support staff were terrific, friendly, warm, helpful. Couldn't have asked for more!

Great facilities, nice park.
Didn't feel like we were on top of each other. The pool was actually heated, the kids loved it. Spotless kitchen.

Brand new park - lacked a bit of atmosphere, but that will come when the trees grow.
Cozy log fire in kitchen/lounge area. Bathrooms were immaculate. Very welcoming and helpful host. Peaceful location, gently burbling of the river in the background. Nice.

The world's most grumpy staff!
All of the supervising life savers were all as grumpy and surly as anything. Crowded. Go outside of school holidays and don't go on weekends. Waterslides were quite short in comparison to others in NZ, worth a visit, but it won't be the highlight of your trip.
Forget finding a quite spot in a pool to meditate and zone out, it won't happen, you will be crawled all over and invaded by kids.

Uneven site to park vehicle on.
Very muddy, no where to stand when stepping out of van, other than into a pile of mud. Sites very close together. Very basic play area for children.

Eerie forst walk on the way in.
Don't watch the Blair Witch movie then go there. I swear that is where it was filmed! The hole itself is dangerous, the rocks seem to entice you in to look further, with a risk of fall. There are warnings though, and if you use common sense it's OK. But don't go for that extra look over the edge. Difficult work with lots of clambering and climbing over rocks. Make sure you have your boots.

I love Hokitika, bizarre beach, stark and wild.
Park was right on the beach. The campsites were a little close together, but hedges gave some privacy. The shower block was inadequate, 2 showers and 2 toilets for the entire camp in ladies. The sites were muddy and paths are gravel. Consequently the floors in the shower blocks were filthy within 5 seconds. I suspect the bathrooms are just hosed out once a day and that's all. Permanentely wet. Suggest mats in the entrance to the amenities blocks, or at least lay more concrete paths.
Loved the dump station, which contained a sign 'strictly no dumping'. Only in NZ!

Loved it.
We took two young kids along. Felt safe the entire time. Tim was brilliant. Pretty full on for the kids, but they wanted more. Can't recommend them highly enough.

Our son loves Kiwis, so we had to take him to see one at the Kiwi Centre in Franz Joseph.
NZ$70 to see two Kiwis!!!!! Rip off. They were two of a particular type of Kiwi, for the price they charged, they should have had all of the types of Kiwis there.
Once you have seen the Kiwis, there are a couple of pitiful displays on the threats to them, then you move into an area on glaciers. It was the most expensive 15 minutes of my life.
