The actual jet boat was fun but there was nothing personal about the experience.
You have one guy pick you up, another drive you to the boat and yet another steer the boat. The group is quite large and there were people ranging from those wearing hiking boots to high heals. The take the cheesy photos which they sell for $45. Wouldn't recommend for the price.

Ian worked really hard for us to see a kiwi all whilst being respectful to the birds in the wild.
I saw two and reflecting on the experience after I had finished my tour around south island, it really was the highlight of my trip. Thanks
Thanks Co-guide ! I am pleased you decided to stay another night to get onto my kiwi tour. You were well rewarded with great views of Okarito Kiwi in the wild. Well Done.

I just stood in the car park and watched the birds flying around above us.
It was special and I'm not sure what more you'd get from doing the tour as all the info you could possibly need is displayed in the guest centre for free.

It was nice to see the penguins up close but there were a lot of people there, very touristy and it felt a bit fake.
Not too pricey but then not much info given either.

Very peaceful and pleasant walk through a beautiful forest.
Didn't see any penguins at the beach but there were some oystercatchers and skua gliding past. No one else around and it was worth it just to get off the tourist track a little.

I really enjoyed my trip out in the boat with Swade.
Even though it was just me he took me out showed me all the wildlife and gave me loads of background info without being too much. I saw royal spoonbill, rare white heron, 2 types of terns, shags, stilts...this is a great way to see the white heron which is in residence all year despite what the white heron company say. Highly recommend.
