Favourite beach on our Northland campervanning trip.
Long beach with estuary at the end. You can walk in estuary at low tide. At north end 1 hour round track takes you to headland then beautiful Whale Bay. Accessible only by foot or boat. Lovely walk through Bush and farmland. Peaceful holiday town with a dairy. Clean toilet. Only minus was a visit by boy racers at night doing donuts by vans. Luckily their visit was short. Room for 4 Van's in allocated site. Will return in summer.

Gorgeous camp in bush surrounded on all sides by streams.
We were here in winter but you can picture how amazing it would be floating along the river in summer. Great communal kitchen lounge and log fire to warm us while watching rugby with other campers. Trounson Kauri Park nearly to visit and do 40 minute easy walk to see giant kauri. At night feed the eels and see the glowworms at the camp. You can walk yourself in Trounsen forest to see kiwi. Need infrared torch.

DOC campsite at end of long drive.
Two beautiful bays to walk and explore. White sand. We stayed in campervan at top site. As it is winter only a few sites that weren't boggy that could be used. Only us and 1 other van. Looks like they allow campers on lower site near toilet block. Resident DOC manger not friendly. Also some not very friendly locals who have access to drive on beach in very unroadworthy vehicles.

Beautiful camp right on water.
Small camp. Great freeshowers and wifi. Lots birds and great walks to Opua or to Pahia. The walk to Pahia even goes by z coffee cart on the next beach for an early morning stroll. Loved this camp. Would be even more amazing in summer with kayaks and swimming.

Clean large camp.
Stayed on elevated site with distant views to water. Free wifi and showers. Good walking distance to Flagstaff hill track and recommend walk to Long Bay in the morning to the coffee cart on beach.
Thank you Anna for your lovely review. We're pleased that you were able to take advantage of the beautiful area around us and that you've enjoyed your stay with us. We appreciate you leaving a review, thank you again.

Lovely estuary front site.
Lots of permanent caravans here but heaps of wonderful clean facilities. Only got a 9 because it was the only camp we stayed in that had no free wifi.

Perfect spot on reserve by boat park.
Waterfront sites. In winter sites are limited by the muddy grass only about 4 would fit in approved area that is tarred. Great pub a safe 5 minute walk away. Only downer was boy racers tearing past for a part of the night.

This site looks to be under repair or renovation as all dug up when we drive past.
Great site though and hope it will remain a freedom camp site as great location on lovely coast.

We drove here to check it out.
Beautiful sweeping beach with camping at north end for 4 campervan. Peaceful. Lovely beach walk to south end then climb up to view point. You can walk down to next Bay or loop back down the street of beaches. Really lovely spot. Toilet block nearby.

Great campervan site.
Each site has own picnic table. Great facilities. Very clean. Kitchen is huge but has nothing in it. You have to supply everything down to pots utensils wash clothes. Very quiet at this time of year. Recommend Lake Matheson walk 10 minutes along road.

Very modern campervan park.
Great facilities clean and would be lovely sitting outside on deck on a warm evening. Most expensive camp we stayed $40 for 2 of us plus $2 for a shower. No offer of glow worms or eels when we visited.

Large camp site under pine trees with some sites facing lake.
Older dated facilities but adequate. A track from the camp takes you to Lake front about a 10 minute walk.
