We took the kids up here for a day trip out of Wellington and it was a super place to spend the day with the family.
Lots of ducks and animals (friendly ones) roaming free, some cool walking tracks for the kids that weren't too long....heaps of picnic areas. All in all if you are looking at a cool place to take the family for the day I'd recommend for sure.

It's a nice place to go for an adventure with little kiddies.
Having a boat trip out, small walk around the island and listening to the DOC guide talk you through was pretty neat.

We took our three year old out to have birthday party out there and it was fantastic fun for them.
So much wildlife to interact with for kids, and it was pretty non threatening for the kids - nothing to get too scared of. It's a bit of a mission to get to, but worth it.
