We rented a budget high-top campervan from CampaSouth.

We were very happy with the van. The inside is very comfortable and practical, with a fridge and small freezer, tap with runnig (cold) water, and microwave (that only works if you are in a powered campsite). Everything worked properly, we didn't have any problems, even though we rented the older type. Don't expect the newest most modern van, but you get a very cosy and functional home for a fair price!

The owners of the company are very friendly, easy to reach by phone and very helpfull to explain things about the van, but also to give other information about traveling in New Zealand (weather forecast apps, information about the ferry, etc).

I would definetely recommend CampaSouth and the budget high-top campervan!
