You are correct, Brian, United Campervans are all guaranteed under 3 years and yours would have been as well notwithstanding the kilometres travelled. As our policy is to ensure our clients are happy on the road we remind them on pick up that if they experience any problems during their travels they should ring our freephone for on road service, and we hope that is what you did. We also allow hirers to undertake on road repairs or replace broken equipment up to NZ$100 without authorisation from us, and the amount will be reimbursed on presentation of a receipt. Authorisation is required for amounts over NZ$100.
