One of the coolest things we did the entire trip.
The trek is about 45min. You’ll need a bathing suit and shoes you don’t mind getting wet (my friend did it in flip flops, he says, “it wasn’t easy”). Water mildly cold for us Canadians. Max it gets us up to your waist. Some small technical bits (climbing a ladder and some small waterfalls). As long as you watch where you step it’s fine. We went in mid March and didn’t need a wetsuit or any of that crazy stuff. Bring a headlamp and I wouldn’t suggest doing it alone. We saw a water eek - kind of cool. No spiders or any creepy stuff.
Overall super cool, would do again.

Wicked spot nestled in the mountains.
Lots of powered sites. The stars were magnificent. Friendly owner. Glow worms a 3 min walk - cool to see at night. Probably the nicest bathrooms we saw at a camp site - looked newly renovated. A big kitchen. Also a BBQ and pizza oven (we would have bought frozen pizzas to cook knowing this).

Great place overall to stay.
Excellent view of Mt Cook and the mountains if you’re lucky to have nice weather. No issues at all with bathrooms and cooking facilities.

Great site in the mountains.
Down a 6km maintained gravel road. Only 4 powered spots however. Hosts very kind and served amazing meals. They have a bar and restaurant for food. Bathroom and showers clean. Not a lot of sand flies. Good spot to stop before Christchurch.
