Used to come here camping as a kid 20+ years ago and came back to share with my husband.
We both loved it and stayed an extra night as we didn't want to leave! The powered sites on the beach front are just perfect.
Hot showers (free), bathroom and kitchen facilities all very clean and well kept. Has laundry facilities ($4 washer / $4 dryer) and a few clothes lines too (byo pegs). Has a dump station and fresh water available.
Lovely pool and private beach. Short walk to shops, cafe, bakery etc.
Camping ground is 'clothes optional' during some parts of the year (was in March).

Spacious powered sites, extremely clean facilities.
Hot showers $0.50 for 6 minutes. Right on the beach, which you can hear from your campsite (even the non 'premium' beach front campsites).
Enjoyed our stay here and would come back in the future.
Awesome Kysha, thanks for coming to stay

Owner/manager very friendly and welcoming and kitchen facilities clean and tidy.
We had a powered site for our motorhome for one night and found most of the powered sites to be extremely narrow. We felt really packed in, being less than 1m away from the neighbouring motorhome. The non powered sites appeared to be a bit more spacious.
We would visit the area again however, I'd overnight elsewhere.
Thank you for your comments. However we must defend our powered sites. The park was "setup" in 2007. The powered sites were Council approved and in "those days" the vans were small. Maximum 5m and 2 1/2 persons wide. We are looking to move the sites with Council approval in the next to 2 winters.I don't know the size of your van you if really needing more space suggest next time you purchase a stay with us go for an 11M powered site, if in fact power is required for a 1 night stay. We have power points in the Amenities Block for things like computers and cell phones. Glad you enjoyed the stay and hope to see you back.Management

DOC campsite.
Lovely spot right on the water. We got there around 4pm and there were only a couple of other campers there. Got a fabulous waterfront spot. By 7pm the site was packed. $8 per adult, take correct change as you self register and drop $$ into a locked box.
Has one toilet, looked like a longdrop but we didn't try it as we were self contained.
There's a walking track to Momorangi Bay which was around 20 mins each way and a lovely, mostly flat walk. Found wild blackberry bushes and Banana Passion fruit vines along the walk. The Banana Passion was ripe and delish (it's actually considered a noxious weed but tastes yummy). Found these close to Momorangi Bay part of the track.
You can swim in the bay, it looked very still and calm but unfortunately the weather wasn't warm enough when we stayed.

Excellent spot at this time of year - not busy at all and still (just) warm enough for a swim.
We came for one night initially but stayed for two (and would've stayed longer if our itinerary allowed).
Clean flush toilet facilities and cold showers available. Fire pits laid out around campsites which can be used when there's no fire ban.
Dump station available and fresh drinking water available near campsites.
Very friendly and helpful DOC staff around to answer questions during business hours. Special shout out to Rusty who lives and works there, and has been coming to Totaranui for the last 50 years - very knowledgeable and just lovely to chat to!

Beautiful location right by Lake Rotoiti.
Campsite well set up with kitchen facilities, toilets and hot showers (token system, $1 per token for 6 mins of hot water). We stayed in a powered site for $23 per adult. Non powered sites were $20 pp.
If arriving before 4.30pm, register at the DOC office about 200m before the lake on the right-hand side. You can buy tokens for the showers there too. If coming after hours, there's an onsite host (but they can't give you a campsite until after the DOC office closes).
As others have said, plenty of sandflys about so bring repellent.
Lake 100m away from campsite, where you can swim, hire canoes, get a water taxi and there's a playground for kids.
Campsite has rubbish and recycling bins and a dump station.
Saw some American tourists feeding eels off the jetty.. which I'm glad I only saw after I'd had a swim!
