Pitched a tent at Plateau Lodge for $19.
The service was amazing. They have private spa pool for 30minute bookings included, a clean and equipped kitchen and dining area, clean bathrooms and showers, a drying line, really everything I could have needed. A great spot!

I stayed before and after hiking the Tongariro Northern Circuit.
I left my bags for free during the 4 day hike, and the shop had enough to add things I didn’t bring with me. I got a backpacker bed in the lodge for $28 a night, and had the whole room to myself one of the days. On weekends the place fills up so make sure to book ahead. There is a kitchen with all equipment needed, shuttles are easy to access, and a food truck with burgers, icecream, and coffee sets up outside.

I paid $20 per night for an unpowered tent site, and set up under a tree which was fairly private although the tent site is a field.
There was unlimited access to hot pools, a decent kitchen and dining area, a living room with outlets, and showers. There are no utensils or cookware out, but available for rent. Lots of friendly Kiwis camping here as well, instead of just tourists. Close to mountain biking, which is why I picked the spot.

I ended up staying for 4 nights during Raglan’s summer peak.
The owners were sweet and helpful and made sure everyone who needed a place to sleep got in. One can walk along the beach into town, and sweet sunsets. The facilities were basic, bathrooms were out of soap, hot showers for $1 or cold for free, but I would stay again!
