Lovely site with great facilities.
Good views from Bush Walk and lots of bird life at low tide. Not cheap. Credit cards 3% surcharge (doesn’t encourage European visitors where its outlawed) and showers extra. Shop closed at 5pm. Petty things that detract from 10

Wonderful bird life in the estuary but few places to walk
Thanks for taking time to comment. Guests just love our pools! We do have plenty of bird life here - and you can walk either side of the estuary here in Athenree, and the wetlands on the way to Waihi Beach are worth a look too.

Told on arrival clothing is optional in Feb/March but no apparent takers ans cool and cloudy! Site is old and a bit scruffy. Facilities adequate

We have a variety of areas available for camping here : close to the beach with a smaller facilities block or away from the beach with the newer larger facilities block,and a large variety of units. We are currently working through an upgrade programme so hope you can return and check us out in the future.

Poor facilities, BBQ no gas and dirty.
Sorry that you had a poor experience as we pride ourselves in having clean & well serviced back-packer & camping facilities.
Campers normally use their own gas bottles for the BBQ's but we have gas bottles available if requested. For safety & security we can not leave them with the BBQ's
