Gorgeous grassy site that fills up quickly!
I arrived around 4pm and got a spot but there were many others who weren’t so lucky. However some people weren’t respectful and parked very cramped (ie struggle to open door). It is a very peaceful location with an easy 15 walk into Hanmer Springs which is safe (even at night - just use a flashlight). Three clean flush toilets with toilet paper and soap. Hanmer Springs heritage forest walks just next to campsite which are lovely to explore. Lots of sandflies and friendly bumblebees.

Good for a night if it’s late and you need somewhere to sleep.
It’s off a highway in the middle of nowhere. Arrived after 8pm, almost full. As a solo female camper, I felt safe because it was full but had it been only a few vans I would have driven on. Drop portaloo’s with toilet paper, no sink to wash hands. Noise from trucks but once asleep it didn’t matter.

Plenty of spots to park, clean flush toilets close by (with toilet paper, soap, mirror).
Close to city centre and beach right next to parking. Quiet road traffic.

Good for a night if you want to stay close to Picton.
Bit out of town however (too far to walk) and nothing around (gorgeous mountain views though). Off the highway but minimal noise. I arrived at 2:45pm and got the last spot! Designated spots for 12 camper vans. Flush toilets with toilet paper and a bar of soap I believe some kind person left behind. Lots of creepy crawlies in the toilets - it’s nature but fair warning! Nice grassy areas to enjoy a book and your meal.
