Beautiful setting just by Cooks beach, toilets a 5 minute walk away and barbecue area.
No water supply here and very limited parking space, only room for about 7 campervans in the designated area. We were very lucky to get a spot arriving at 5pm, as lots of others arrived just after and there was no room left. Parking is in a field with a hedge behind it so more sheltered than other campsites on the coast. Overall very nice location, make sure you get there early to reserve a spot!

Nice friendly people.
The area to park was only small and could fit 4 campers. Very quiet during the night but not so much in the evening. Had some great food in tavern, generous portions and would recommend all our food. Toilets only open tavern opening hours and no water supply/shower. Good location and staff helpful.

Very good spot with free access to glow worm caves just next to the campsite.
Toilets were adequate but struggled with the locks, and there is a cold outdoor shower. Quite off the beaten track with a long gravel road to get there. Caves were definitely a highlight, much easier to walk in trainers/flip flops in the river rather than on the rocks/mud. WiFi didn’t work which was a shame as no service down there for our first night camping

Nice little spot in a meadow, very windy road to get there from the South.
Toilet was clean but a little walk over the bridge. Sandflies are quite severe so wear long clothes in the morning. Locals seem to use the river for a dip, unfortunately one car came to use the field as a loo and left toilet roll blowing all over the field. Quiet spot with beautiful sky. There is also a resident duck who is very friendly, pretending to look for food as an excuse to come over!

Quite an exposed campsite on hard standing.
Was very busy with local circus folk when we went but lots of spaces (approx 15). Toilets were adequate, no drinking water but large bin. Horses on the beach and lots of dogs, scenic area.

Arrived in the dark, a little tricky to find but lovely peaceful spot in the woods.
There are a few picnic tables and lots of spaces (only 6 others when we were there and lots of room still). Toilets are clean but unfortunately closed for repair in the morning. Highly recommend as a quiet stopover

Nice shaded spot with views of the sea, right next to a road but not too busy.
Toilets were a little dirty and drinking water had been removed when we went but a lovely local gave us access to some. There are 4 cockerels who are rather friendly and wake you up at about 6:30am so not a spot for those who like a lie in! Lots of people stop in to use the loo so not the quietest, but a good stopover point.

This campsite was full when we got there at 2pm, but there is another overflow campsite by the hotel which the security guard kindly showed us.
Make sure you only park in designated areas as they do check. Quite smelly but this is inevitable in Rotorua and street lights mean it’s lit up all night. No toilets, but there is another car park with loos 5 minute drive further through the Government gardens (we moved here for breakfast as much more scenic right by Lake Rotorua)
