Many thanks to Mary Ann, Debs and the others.
A family owned, highly professional outfit with the latest vehicles in immaculate condition. They did a very thorough briefing to ensure we knew how to operate the vehicle. Everything worked beautifully. The camper had good screens to keep out the insects, comfy beds, easy to set up and plenty of room. The house battery life was great with solar recharge sufficient to keep it going for a few days. Good water pressure and easy to clean toilet. The hand over in Auckland was excellent including a shuttle to our terminal. The only quibble with the vehicle is the small aperture to the storage space below made it difficult to get suitcases in (but we did with much pushing and folding).
Our 4 person camper was not suitable for many DOC sites, which is what we were after in NZ as opposed to campgrounds. But you need self contained vehicles for those sites so what do you do? In that case better to get a Land Cruiser with a big tent, good battery, fridge, some kind of self contained toilet and grey water tank. More research on that next time!
Hi Miles,
Thanks for your review from your recent North Island motorhome adventure with us. We hope to see you again sometime in the future.
Interesting you say that your vehicle was not suitable for many DOC sites - was that due to the access to these sites ? All of our motorhomes, including the 4-berth vehicle you were in, are fully self-contained and certified for freedom camping with good overnight battery life, automatic 3-way fridges, diesel heating and an onboard toilet/shower. So we find many of our clients do prefer to stay in DOC campsites also, for the 'get away from the crowds' holiday.
Hopefully next time you hire from us we can discuss a few options along this way. Thanks again though!
Regards,
Colin Morris

A place of tranquility and beauty beside the stream, lots of grass and shade, uncrowded.
4 min walk south down the road to a great swimming hole. We were very lucky to have a concert violinist staying nearby practicing before a tour, strains of Handel wafting through the trees. Can hitchhike up to the parking lot for walks. A lovely spot. Thanks you DOC!

Beautiful secluded spots by a stream.
Little swimming hole. Med to large vehicles take care of overhanging branches. Fishermen and walkers stroll by but otherwise you’re alone. Only downside is constant road noise.

Lovely spot by the lake far from the traffic.
Can find shady spots or full sun. Camp manager Pierre is really helpful and has all the answers. Lots of weekenders arrived after 7 (including some guys with a sofa on their trailer) but everyone was very chilled and quiet. Water from a tapas one power outlet. Ladies not so keen on drop toilets. Nicer feel than Brett Rd next door.
