The view from the summit was stunning looking over both Hauraki Gulf and Plain as well as Pacific Ocean.
We did the walk in Jan 2020 and the track was much more well maintained than we expected, orange route marks were all clear and there were no fallen trees or deep shrub as such. The only challenge of this walk would be the last steep section where you need to gain about 200m elevetion using chains and tree roots. As part of this section is exposed it might be dangerous on a very windy day. Space for parking cars in front of the entrance of the track is limited and not really safe as it's along the SH25. You also have to cross the road which we didn't feel safe as the section has quite a few bents. Otherwise it's a very nice track for someone who wants to do a one day challenging walk on a calm day.
