Ratings of campgrounds are very subjective.
We were a family of 5. 2 kids and 3 adults. The view is amazing. The toilets and facilities are new and very clean. For kids activities there is a little water park 50m down the road plus swimming in the lake. Also easy hikes up to mount John observatory. If you stay there prepare yourself for an amazing star gazing experience. The cost was below some of the other place we slept at so we would call it acceptably proceed. For 5 it was 90nzd.

This place is perfect if you’re starting or ending your trip out of Christchurch.
It’s close to town. The facilities are very clean and the staff very nice. Also a really nice cafe across the road. My only suggestion would be instead of taking a bus to town driver your camper and park it. It’s easier and cheaper than the bus.

We found the location great along the water. Close to beaches and only a 15 minute walk up the coast to town.
