Good affordable spot $34 next to the lake and relatively close to town.
Book ahead to get one of the good spots on the waterfront! When we arrived, there were effectively no vacancies, but the lady managed to fit us in to a non powered site up the back near the road. Basic and old facilities, but everything was clean, worked well and comfortable! Neat and tidy park!

Good spot in amongst the forest with plenty of bush walks.
About 2 min drive from the kauri forest walk. Space for at least 20 sites. Shower..very cold shower. Clean drop toilets, dishes washing facility, bush hut for hikers. MIDGIES (sand flies). Went for a night walk to look for kiwis! Heard them calling very close, but couldn’t see them. Found a kauri snail though!

Lots of little tucked away spots in the bush next to a river.
Lots of forest but if you look hard you can find small clearings here and there. Very quiet and secluded! No facilities, and dirt roads to the sites. Not good for large vehicles.

Awesome spacious campsite even on Christmas Eve.
Beautiful scenery of mountains, ocean and horses. Facilities were basic but at a good standard....cold showers and drop toilets.
Downside was the midgies (sandflies) but still totally worth it.

Awesome spot, right on the beach!
Super busy, so we had to park just outside of the designated camping spot (room for about 4-5 vans). A lot of people were camping outside of the designated spots. Public flushing toilets. Great spot to watch the sun rise/set!

We got in late at night (around 8pm).
There was a sign at the office saying we could find a spot and pay in the morning which was really convenient! Good and new facilities, big kitchen. If anything, maybe a little pricey, but good for the location. Went and saw the gannet colony nearby.
