4.5/5
Great base to explore Oamaru on foot, especially a late night visit to the blue penguins.
We turned up mid afternoon with plenty of powered spaces, greeted by friendly and informative receptionist. Dump facilities useful, fresh water conveniently by powered sites. Didn't use shower facilities but they were clean, along with the toilet facilities and looked some of the best we saw throughout the South Island. Good value for money - did not pay more for beach view, but still had it as no one was in site between us. First impressions proved wrong, as it was a quiet campsite despite being placed between children's play area and some kind of industrial oil storage facility.

Nice and quiet site, out the way.
Was there at start of season, with a few people just arriving to settle for a few days, but with the space available everyone was very spread out. Good basic facilities, toilets and indoor seating area.
Nice beach to walk along, with track directly down from campsite. Had fun wandering through village spotting all the home made postboxes.

Great place to stay with good, well maintained facilities.
Lots of space for camper vans and tents. We had plenty of room, as it wasn't yet peak high season. Offers great access to Hooker valley track.

Turned up without booking to a few powered spaces still available.
Liked the location, out of the city. Good spaces between the spaces, and convenient to have dump station and fresh water alongside the power hook up. Pleasantly surprised to find that the site had good wifi throughout the pitches. Shower facilities good be improved, no devision between shower and changing area meant grass and outdoor show muck was being washed towards plug hole in shower by over flow of water.

Nice location, right next to beach estuary with lots of wader birds to spot.
Lots of surf boards in the camp so assuming nearby is good surfing. Big field, but did fill up. We were there at the start of the holiday season so almost one side was filled with families set up with campers/gazebos/tents for and extended holiday stay. One basic toilet, and a wash basin - potential for queues to build if the site is busy.
High score is for location then site itself, as its just a busy field.
