Huge campsite, well spaced out but not very pretty.
Facilities are all new and very good and clean. Very busy but we were there just after New Year. Nice walks in the area plus the gannet colony to visit. Not much for kids to do there apart for the beach (black sand)

The setting was beautiful but the facilities are dreadful.
Toilets are old and dirty. Showers again are dirty. If you are fully self contained then great place. No shops so take everything. Small campsite.

Stunning setting.
Very cleverly laid out so you didn’t feel on top of one another. Toilets all long drops but clean and non smelly (use the newer ones) only cold showers.
They have cut walks along the coastline and can walk into town. No wifi. Definitely recommend. Wish we could have stayed longer

You camp in the carpark with toilets not far away.
Quiet pretty stop. Toilets were clean and cold beach showers. Nice walks from the campsite. Book through Auckland city council, not the easiest website. You need to search for self contained with no location otherwise nothing comes up. Can only stay one night.

Owner complained that they were busy when we booked!
She was also grumpy on arrival. Pretty setting with lots of trees segregating everyone but still cramped in. They have expended and not added more facilities so you had to queue for everything. Facilities are newish and clean but just not enough of them. Pay laundry in site, yet again you have to queue. Wifi was bad and kept on dropping out. On the plus side the 2 staff members that we met were really helpful.

Lovely campsite surrounded by water.
Owners and staff friendly and helpful. Facilities are good and clean but due to construction costs they can’t expand them so they are busy. Very convenient for the kauri forests. Good for kids. Tubing, swimming, play park and tractor rides.

In the middle of nowhere, along dirt track.
Long way from any shops so make sure you take everything with you. Very spread out on the sand dunes. Lovely peaceful setting - great if you want to get away from it all. Not much to do there apart from walk up and down the beach. Wifi patchy. Facilities good, flush loo and hot showers. Not suitable for children.

Beautiful setting.
Need to book through Auckland council website. Very confusing as only the campground comes up and not the self contained area. You are given different codes for each of the gates. We ended up camping outside of the self contained area. Apparently kiwis roam through the campground at night, you don’t see them at the self contained area. Toilets basic but clean at self contained area. Could use facilities at main campsite.

Very big campsite, perfect for children.
Lots of things for them to do. It was v quiet when we were there and feel that when it is full it will be heaving.
Facilities clean, shower on timer but plenty of time. Good wifi. Walk to Cove restaurant.

Lovely little campground.
Owners and staff are super friendly and helpful. Facilities are older but very clean. Great spot by the Haruru Falls. Can walk either on the road (40mins) or along the river (2hrs) into Paihia and Waitangi Treaty Grounds ($50 each to get in!). Good wifi
