Just spent a night here.
Very pleasant, on the beach, hot water at outdoor sinks and in bathrooms including showers. Lots of kiddie stuff. Quiet (we were one of only two customers there on Dec 19). 5 min drive into town. And only $5pp. This place is not listed correctly by price by Rankers! Highly recommend staying here.

Good van, had everything we needed, there were no hidden costs, no stress on checkout or return.
That's pretty much what you hope for when renting something for a vacation. I generally read reviews to see if there's a reason to avoid a company or not. Given our entire experience I recommend renting a camper van from Campa South. The van was in excellent condition, well stocked, well maintained, the cost was as advertised, and finally the administrative process was painless and friendly. Susan does the paperwork and Graham deals with the van. Both were very personable and easy to deal with. We dropped off the van in Auckland and Kurt was also very nice. I could have spent an afternoon chatting if I'd have met them in another context. Graham gave us wellcome advice for what I'd call "van management" even though I'd just been driving another van in Australia for 6 weeks. In Australia we didn't get that level of advice, for example, in AU I had to call and ask the height of the van for entering parking garages. Graham's parking rule-of-thumb "don't park where you're not in the sun". Given the height of a high roof van, and damage a tree branch can do, his advice was simple and effective. Same thing goes for his advice to have a spotter help you back up because you can't see all dangers with the back-up camera. We used his advice and everything was fine. The van was well stocked. In 5 weeks we never needed to plug in at night. We never ran out of propane. We did have to manage our water because washing dishes uses a lot of water. I'd suggest washing up on the holiday camp sink when possible. The fridge was big and cold (running only off solar!!!), We shuffled storage around and put everything where we wanted it. ...I just realized that this space is limited so no more van living advice. In summary, we recommend Campa South for a painless rental. That's all you want in a rental company.
