200 blue penguins came ashore at dusk in rafts (feb), waddle ashore to their burroiws, often standing around preening themselves - wait til the end and then get a closer view when less peeple around.

Conservation show OK, but the contents of the park are not very impressive, although you do get to see a couple of Kiwis scratching around in near darkness.

Wander the bay just before dusk to see yellow eyed penguins returning to their nests - only eight pairs, but accessible and not phased by humans, as long as you don't block their approach to their nests
