100% worth a visit if you stop in Oamaru.
Easy self check in and there was a fantastic friendly and helpful manager who had great local knowledge and tips for us. Campsite is clean and very well looked after. Best part is the penguins that come up to the campsite and nest under the kitchen at about 9-10pm. Can’t beat the location - right by Scott’s Brewery and the children’s play park. Fishing great off the pier - my partner caught 3 medium sized carpet sharks!

This park is well worth a visit too.
Not only are the grounds immaculate but it is right by the river and beach - perfect for fishing. Friendly welcoming staff who helped my partner with all his fishing questions and even gave him some bait to use. Laundry facilities free, all amenities clean and tidy. Lovely ‘rock around the world’ idea where you can paint a rock to add to their garden. A few ducks and chickens roaming about gave it such a great feel. 100% the best campsite we have stayed at in NZ. Has a fire pit, BBQ and great children’s play area for families. Thanks for having us!

Awful customer service from Peter the ‘owner’/manager.
Dingy facilities and small sites. Was really the worst TOP 10 we have been to.
Don’t waste your time guys - go to Parklands Marina down the road. Amazing service and grounds and 10GB of WiFi per device!!!!!

TOO MANY SANDFLIES.
Great effort by the council but sadly too many sandflies to even sit out and have a drink :( loved this campsite so was a real shame. Beautiful setting, great shelter for cooking and standard portaloo.

Stunning campsite.
Good level gravel site with ample spaces. Right on the lakefront with friendly ducks (we met the infamous hoppy!) Only 1 portaloo but was not peak season when we visited so no issue. $8 per person per site is not a lot for DOC to ask and am happy to support it. Good stopover from Arthur’s pass to Christchurch. Most ‘free’ campsites in Arthur’s pass are no longer free and have unbearable sandflies (we stopped at 3 sites before stopping here) so were very happy to pay a low cost site in exchange for no sandflies.

Amazing effort put in by the council.
Lovely sheltered area + toilets and all next to a gorgeous scenic lake (good for fishing). Parking spots nicely laid out with rocks and easily signposted. Water had risen a lot when we visited so lost the great van spaces by the lake, but not an issue. No portable water or rubbish bins. Sadly the sandflies were UNBEARABLE and after half an hour we had to give up and went all the way down to the lovely DOC lake Pearson flight (no sandflies!!).
