This is a nice walk that only takes a couple of hours, but gives you a great lookout over the town.

Atomic are reliable, very funny & friendly but don't talk too much.
They can drop you off at your accomdation. However on one short(ish) route they stopped too many times.

Really unusual spot with helpful if slightly eccentric owner.
Really cute cabins with firewood and coal provided. Showers aren't great though.

Catlins, Really green leafy site with amazing showers and overlooking the estuary.
Full of families so don't go if you don't like small kids.

Good, nice hostel as its more just like a shared cabin so very chilled out.
Peaceful surroundings but make sure to bring reading material and supplies as there's limited supplies here. ( More fruit and books please!).
