Lots of space, decent drop toilets just bring your own toilet paper.
Beautiful spot right on the lake with a view of the mountains. 15 min drive to Tekapo, close to the Mt John Observatory. $10pp. Cooking benches, sinks with pump.
Easy to find.

Beautiful place to camp right next to the forest.
Actually quite easy to find despite what others have said. Put Woodland Walk Recreation Reserve into maps, drive past and it’s the next left on Pawsons Rd. Don’t put Pawsons Rd into maps, doesn’t locate it properly.
Clean flushing toilets, sink, soap, toilet paper. Sensor light, will still need a head torch to walk there but very close to the freecamp site.
Make sure you leave time to do one of the many forest walks around. I’d recommend the Woodland Walk, very nice!
Not sure why it’s not on Rankers but there’s another freecamp site on Cheltenham St, off Amuri ave next to the Library/Gallery. 2 vehicles 8pm-8am, max 2 nights in 30 days. Right in town, but the woodland is much more scenic. Happy camping!

Lovely spot on a lake.
It’s right off the highway but far enough that the noise isn’t a bother. Toilets are ok, but bring your own toilet paper. There were also bins but they were full. We got there on a Sunday and perhaps they don’t service toilets or bins over the weekend, so may be better during the week.
Other than that, nice place and plenty of room! Would suggest if you’re heading to Wanaka or Queenstown and want to save some cash before you inevitably blow it all in these towns :)

Such a great spot right on Lake Pukaki.
It depends which area you park, you may have to walk to the toilets but it’s not far. Toilets smelled fine during the day, but at night pwoooaaa. Nasty. Keep the lids closed ppl.
If it wasn’t raining I’m sure the views of the mountains and stars would’ve been incredible. Oh well, hopefully next time :)

Pretty decent for a car park!
Very quiet on a Monday night. There was a car that pulled in blasting its music but the person just needed to use the toilet then left. Some people briefly singing at around 11pm but other than that I really can’t complain, it is in the centre after all. Very convenient spot with 2 clean toilets open all night plus a water fountain. Also laundry and shower services during the day time at an extra cost. Was only about 7 cars here. Weekends might not be so peaceful...
Also need to leave by 8am, or get a ticket for 1hr free parking until 9am, otherwise you may get fined. Happy camping :)

Really nice place to stay.
Right near the salt water baths which are a great spot for sunrise/sunset. Clean toilets, sinks for washing dishes, tap, bins and a bbq area. Short drive from Motueka township. Gets very busy, I would get here before sunset as it was full just afterwards. Highly recommend!
