We visited in winter and there were quite a few people here. This was one of our fancy campsites.
It is a lovely campground with stunning views, and lots of walks around starting from the campsite. There is a large shelter, with bathrooms and flushing toilets. The view of Mt Cook, the surrounding mountains and the valley is stunning. The walk to Tasman Glacier consists of 336 steps (not little ones), but results in very pretty and impressive views.

This is a large paddock under trees, on a river.
Picturesque campsite, but costs $10 per person per night. Council managed. Overpriced considering 3 of the 4 flushing toilets didn't work and were blocked up. 10 minutes out of Wanaka, so not a bad alternative to more expensive places in town.

We stayed on the Otto's side, with nice clean bathrooms and a large sink and washing up area.
Large undercover areas with tables. The lake was beautiful.
We stayed in June, and there was still frost on the ground at 3:00pm. DOC campsite with flat gravel sites. Would recommend.

This is a fair drive out of the way, we paid $10 per night for an unpowered site.
Its council run and operated. There were a lot of permanent looking caravans there. We paid for hot showers, which were fairly long. The kitchen amenities were old and dingey, and the caretaker had taken it upon himself to write rude and unnecessary signs ALL over the place. We only stayed here as we had to be in Christchurch the next day.

This was a beautiful campground, it was a bit of a drive out of town but worth it.
Huge camping area, we were the only ones there when we stayed. Beautiful stream that you can camp near. Clean, flushing toilets on each end of the campsite. We would definitely visit again.

$10 per person per night.
This was an outstanding campsite. We visited in winter, so the main campsite was closed (including the free hot showers and the laundry facilities). We had access to a small grassy part of the campsite and flushing toilets. Very nice, and would highly recommend. The views and small walk to the Gorge was well worth it.

This is a stunning campground on the shores of Lake Wanaka, with a pebbly beach full of driftwood.
Basic toilet facilities. Its a very picturesque campground, DOC managed, cost about $8 per person per night. One of our favorite campsites in all the South Island.

Donegal Irish Pub is a few minutes drive out of town.
Unpowered sites were free, powered sites $20.00. We pulled up here on a freezing, windy, rainy evening. The pub was lovely, great atmosphere and roaring fire. Showers were $2, but unfortunately didn't work when we were there. Very pretty location.

This is a fantastic caravan park - clean, fresh, tidy and well-positioned.
The bathrooms were immaculate, the communal kitchen and dining area were great, and laundry facilities cheap and new. The park facilities were well maintained. The township of Fox Glacier is lovely and I would recommend this caravan park if you're looking for a nice place to park up in town.

4.0/5
This caravan park is located on the outskirts of Punakaiki, within walking distance of the Tavern.
The laundry facilities were good, the bathrooms were clean with plenty of hot water for the showers. It was possibly a little overpriced for the low season, but we were happy. Nice, big campground with powered or unpowered sites.

This was a beautiful campsite.
We were the only ones there! Nice big flat grassy area overlooking plains and paddocks, or the option to camp down on the creek. Picnic tables around the campsite. Clean and basic flushing toilets. Very nice campsite, a bit of a drive, but well worth it.

Beautiful but small campsite.
Steep entry/exit, but we managed in a 6-berth motorhome. Long-drop toilet. Lovely walks all around. DOC campsite.

This is a gorgeous campsite, right on the shores of the lake.
The amenities were clean with flushing toilets. Lovely big communal undercover areas. Mowed grassy and flat camping areas. DOC Campsite, so cost $13 per person, per night.
