Overall, this campground is great value for money.
It's clean and well maintained, and the tent sites are grassy and have the occasional shared table-benches. WiFi is good be reasonably priced. This campground is very convenient, if you booked the Whanganui Journey with them as well.
The only negative thing we could find was the old bathroom block – it was clean, though. Overall, we'd stay here again.
Hi there Daniel, thanks for your review - glad you enjoyed your stay - we hope you loved the trip on the river too, and the free hot drinks before and after the trip :) We agree, the old bathroom does need a bit of work - being a council owned property we are just waiting really for the council to agree with us - but we will get there. Come and stay with us again soon and check out the new deck on our kitchen building!

One of our favourite campsites.
A great location at a beautiful golden beach. For a DOC campsite, pretty flash facilities: flush toilets, (cold) showers, camp office + little shop (they sell ice for the chilly bin!), WiFi.

Good, clean, central campground with very friendly staff.
Good amenities. WiFi included (150MB per day or so). One tip: should you start your NZ camping trip in Christchurch, you can probably pick up a few staple foods here: salt, pepper, pasta, rice, etc. Lots of travellers have their last stop here, and so they leave some good quality food behind for everyone to use or pick up.

Beautifully located campsite with great views onto the river to the front and views of the mountains to the back.
It’s next to the DOC Hut and the Tīeke Kāinga marae.
Clean toilets and well-maintained. Recommended!
