2 nights with 2 kids powered site, heaps for them to do with a games room, bouncy pillow and small pirate ship play area.
Great showers and kitchen, walk to town. 500mb wifi. No sandflys and cheaper than the other parks, although this is an expensive area $65/night

Don’t stop at the freedom camp at the bottom of the lake or you’ll be sharing your view with 50 others.
Drive 10minutes past to Hayman Rd and then u can camp anywhere along there up to the powerlines where the salmon farm road is. We parked up on some flats south of the powerlines, perfect views and only 2 other campers nearby

Stayed in a 2 bedroom flat, lots of space, tiny kitchen, pools not included in your booking price so a bit expensive for what you get.
Free wifi, hot showers but not well set out with the whole bathroom wet once your finished. Good location 3 min drive from town up a steep hill.

River nearly dry but still plenty of sandflies. Lovely view and not too noisy even though close to the road.

Our first night in our camper van with young kids.
Easy to find, small park that is very well kept. Slide, trampoline and roundabout for the kids to play on, close to shops to get food and everything else at.
Thanks Liz for your comments , we are central to everything in Christchurch city especially the CBD.
Cheers

10 min into Franz Joseph.
Definitely worth camping on the Ottos side if u want to use the toilets, the long drop needed a clean when we were there. Nice path between the campsites with sinks and a shelter. Great value for the area
