Stayed here for almost a month.
Great weekly rate. Lots of permanent and long term stays. Showers are included (4 minutes hot water at a time). Kitchen is basic but has a few items. Also get a temporary membership to the club which has free WiFi. Really enjoyed our stay.

Great location right on the beach.
Toilet open 24hrs, outdoor shower, and large lot. There are 6 spots for non-self contained and the rest of the lot is open for self contained. Popular beach for wind and kite surfing.

We arrived late after avoiding the Freedom sites nearby that were very busy.
It was inexpensive, charged by site and not person. No public bathrooms. The chalet/house next to the camping area was up late partying and drinking, so it was unfortunately not quiet for us. We only stayed the night and left early so we didn't get to explore any of the other amenities.

Lots of campsites, toilets were basic but clean, showers were 4 minutes for $1, and the staff was really friendly.
You are able to walk to the beach right from the sites. Tauranga and Whakatane are both very close and since you have a guaranteed spot, you come and go as much as you want during the day (or night).

Great place right outside Ohope.
There is great fishing all along the estuary. The parking is in an open field and you can access the beach from the sites. Bathrooms were a bit grungy, but generally nice. The park seems to be pretty popular and lots of boaters and groups were taking advantage of this spot.

Nice location near the lake.
Long drop toilet, so make sure you have your own tissue. Extremely busy, so make sure are arriving earlier in the day. We arrived after dark and were able to squeeze into an unlevel spot.

Just three spots available right on the beach.
Location was really wonderful, the only downsides were the lack of toilet on site (although there is a public toilet a short walk down the beach by the surf club) and that the area seems to be a hang out for teens on the weekends, so we had noise around the parking late until fairly late both of the nights we stayed.

Really beautiful and quiet area.
Toilets are open all night and were clean. BBQ behind the building with toilets. Visiting in late February there were only 3 other vans parked overnight.

Car park in the middle of town.
Bathrooms are just a short walk away near the bowling club. Lots of shops, restaurants, and siteseeing to be had within walking distance. The spots do fill up early, even in the slower season. We visited in late February and all parking spots were filled before noon. The iSite is close and offers showers if needed. Be prepared that most of the town does have a strong sulphur smell.

Great location, it's just a short walk to the beach.
The campground isn't anything particularly special, but visiting in February was largely empty. Shower and bathroom facilities were basic, but clean. Staff that welcomed us was incredibly helpful and kind, even allowed us to check out late so we had an opportunity to shower before leaving.
