Great little place...
Beware the crazy sand flies though! Also the bridge to the seal colony was closed so the main walk was not possible.

No view of the lake though at all.
The spots are hit and miss level or sloped. The perimeter is a solid grey 6ft fence. At almost 50 for 2 on a powered site, way over priced.
Next time we visit Wanaka I think we'll get an Airbnb.

Nice walk, steep on the way up.
Pretty slippy when wet.

Wilderness and camping trip by the beach.
This is what you expect from New Zealand camping in the wild by the advertisements New Zealand roles out across the world. Max 15 spots and enforced by the locals each night struggling to keep it wild and free and clean.
Before this local crew, 30+ would turn up in those pretend self-contained cars and then proceed to shit all over the beach, light fires and play music to the early hours. Apparently there is even a few companies offering money back if you don't use the onboard toilet... What a piss take the locals, the land and those in truly self contained motor homes...
If you cannot afford a proper campervan then don't get one. Use a tour bus instead! I did 15 years ago with a friend and it was one of the best experiences of my travels back then...
Such a simple problem with an easy fix, it's almost as if the NZ government is messing it up on purpose!

Great spot, very popular though.
