We stayed on a Friday night and it was a bit noisy with the bars and the local kids skateboarding until late, but overall nice convenient location.
Clean facilities and respectful campers.

Very quiet campgrounds with a short walk to the beach.
Friendly owner, very clean toilets and a hot shower. Also a nice indoor kitchen and eating area. Bonus: very friendly dog that pops in occasionally for petting.

Our favorite spot near Whangareu or Tutukaka!
Absolutely beautiful spot- quiet, with room for about 5 vans. Lots of locals about paddle boarding and boating until the early evening. Clean flush toilets.

Very functional, nothing special.
Parking backs up onto a tennis court and sports field. Toilets are a bit of a walk and were locked by 8pm, so we walked further to the isite toilets around the corner(open to 10). You end up here when island View Reserve is full. Potable water is very convenient though!

It's more of a commercial parking lot feel in the middle of a town, so we felt a bit weird pulling out our stove and chairs, but a beautiful harbor and walking path, and immaculately clean toilets nearby
. Convenient spot on the way up the Island!

The little numbers you're looking for are in white paint at the top of the parking space.
We arrived early and got a spot, but noticed locals also liked to park in the self contained campervan spaces out of the entire empty parking lot (and didn't leave until after 10pm). Flush toilets are 24 hours and a short, well lit walk north. Would recommend for a city space!

Beautiful campground with very clean toilets and hot showers, and a great communal kitchen.
Family was very friendly and helpful, and they even had a lovely dog you could pet to your hearts content. Just be prepared for 20+ km of gravel roads depending on what portion of 43 you're driving in on.
