The first top 10 on the road for us.
The site itself is opposite of a gas station and some shops. It was a fine campsite for some peace and quiet. It was not that crowded and the tent sites were spacey and relaxed. The kitchen was well equiped. Pretty good for a top 10 site.

Wauw, we expected way more of this campsite!
It was by far the worst campsite we had in the whole of our 2 mnths in NZ. We came here in the afternoon and for the next 4 hours it was a coming an going of tourists driving up and off the place. Everybody stopped only to go to the toilets or take pictures of the flowerfields and then drove off with a more then nescessary speed. The toilets were almost completly filled by the time we needed them, horrible. Also, the place was crowded with sandflies. You can't cook or sit outsite, we were forced to stay in our car in the heat. Long story short, this was a disaster.

Queenstown is a town you must visit while travelling through NZ.
Too bad the parking is absolutely garbage and the overcrowded streets are everywhere. Luckily there is this campsite. It is a short 10 to 15 minutes drive along the coast. The site itself has a great view and we stayed there 2 nights because it was so relaxing. You have acces to a lot of walks there and even a Lord of the rings movie scene. Nice.

Fine campsite with basic but clean facilities and down to earth owners.
We had a good stay here. Go for the winetour in the village when you have the time, really worth it.

Cute, sheltered hostel/campsite on a hill.
Placed a bit off the beaten track, you arrive after a challenging drive, steep and winding. The hostel itself is small but looked cosy. We stayed on the campsite with full equiped kitchen. Unfortunatly the hill on which the tentsites are, is very steep. Sites are extremely small, only a little tent will fit. We had a wet couple of days, which resulted in puddles under the tent and a scary, slippery walk towards the toilets. On a nice day, the place will probably be much more enjoyed!

A free campsite near Lake Tekapo.
And thats all there is to it. There is a little off road bit to the campsite and there are a few toilets on the site itself. It is mostly a passing through campsite where people park there car to get an early start the next morning. Dont expect too much out of it. But expect an overcrowded place after 9 PM.

Yey! Finally a campsite which offers fire making options!
We were so happy! Untill the rain began to fall... Nevertheless the campsite is well taken care of and has an fine toilet site. Good place to stay overnight.

Nice and quiet place, cheap and sheltered near Wanaka.
If you wanna escape the crowds, go here. Frequent check ups on your payment, so be ware. Moreover, we had a good stay.

A great site to stay when you arrive of the ferry in picton.
Its a 15 min drive from the ferry.
There a lot of places to put up your tent or park your caravan. The view over the lake is nice and there are a lot of Tui's going wild on the plants. Beware to pay your fees because there are frequent check ups.

Our first campsite in N-Z, it was a good start.
Campsite has basic toilet, seals nearby and you can clim the lighthouse a bit further down the road.
The sites itself are partly sheltered, partly on a field so choice for everbody.
