Great DOC site just a short drive out of Te Anau, location is right by the side of the lake which even in March sumons you to go for a dip although I must admit it was not for long, views of lake & mountains
surrounding the lake are awesome, you have either open parking in a large car park or you can park amongst the trees in the wooded section as we did which was very nice & secluded & close to the lake, toilets are plentiful however not the best & the two local to us were full of dead flys literally hundreds, but they were serviced & besides the flys clean, I would recommend this as a great site to stay one or two nights it cost 26.00 dollars but I think it was worth it, few sand flys so ointment up with repellant

Mixed views on this campsite, great location, which is excactly why they can charge the high premium that they do, it all about their location, my first impression when we got there was nice site & we
arrived early about 12.00 midday after a pre booking had been made the day before, they tried to put us on a pitch which was only capable of a small van like a juicy or VW & we had a 7 mtr merc sprinter which I had booked so it was frustrating, but the new pitch was perfect. However the shower & kitchen & dinning areas although high quality & standards & cleanliness good they are insufficient for the number of guests & certainly the kitching & dinning area was a bit of a lotery as to when you could get in to use it or get seated, staff were helpful & they had sand fly replant in reception for use & run a shuttle bus to the ferry terminal which was helpful & we booked our excursion through the site which again was useful, the guy driving the bus was very helpful & informative would have score the site higher if more of the good facilities, nice walk up by the river edge to the site worth doing

Stayed here on journey up to Twizel from Cromwell then on journey to Dunedin brilliant view of lake plenty of parking but quite busy, good toilet block & very close to Cromwell which is a nice little place
to visit & has a farmers market on a Saturday recommended as great stop over

I agree it is expensive compared to the average paid campsite BUT, it’s Queenstown 5 mins walk to town, great facilities & some nice quirky features, staff very helpful, we arrived early & although the
receptionist did mention this fact still went out of his way to get us a site so we could set up our camper & again very helpful with local info, I would definitely stay again just a bit price but there again so was Milford sound “location location “
Could be more generous with Wi-Fi, btw ferg burger is a bit of a hype but but good ingredients & we were lucky with the que so hey when in Rome do as the Romans do it’s really all part of the experience just like going on the sky Gondola & Luge etc

Great location, good facilities, would be great family site, as it has small pool & play ground & Avery, but we were couple so didn’t use it, helpful management & very clean facilities would go there again
long walk or nice drive to gore bay & cathedral cliffs about 8 km from site

Nice quieter site we were heading for site further up but came across this & got a perfect pitch so stayed, it was by the side of private road & bear the toilet block which we used & it was fine.
The lake colours are amazing & good place to stay so would recommend it, got to say most tourist do respect the freedom sites & have the self contained vans so the comment made earlier be a NZ camper is unfair as we’ve seen plenty of people in none rental vehicles staying over night which can’t be tourists, great place to stay near Twizel

Fantastic secluded site, right on the water front with exceptionally clean toilets & outside cold shower, limited parking & safe swimming in harbour, would highly recommend this for couple days quiet retreat

We visited Napier on the Monday after the Art Deco weekend festival & decided to do it justice we would stay local & return to do a second day but didn’t want to stay in one of the sites in town as they
were very busy, so went to Clifton reserve which was a diamond of a site which we couldn’t fault in anyway, great clean toilet facilities & drinking water on site, Napier town council deserve to be proud, also a short walk to a great local shop & fish & chip take away which is also very popular with the locals. However one of my best treats was the British car museum which is run by a guy call Ian who is a amazing character & his collection of cars is amazing he actually stayed open well past his closing time as he enjoyed as we did talking about bygone year of motoring he is a genuine & lovely guy. I would strongly recommend a visit & the campsite which has ample parking for self contained campers with responsible owner / users will come back here again as Napier is definitely worth a visit

Try the municipal site up by life guard station but was full so traveled along to this one which turned out to be a real bonus as great facilities, clean & comical toilets which played music plenty of
parking up to about 8 campers but it was nice & quiet as there was only 3 there on the night we stayed, but the site just a stroll up & down from it were to capacity which is bizarre as this is lovely site & 100 meters from the beach would definitely stay here again

Very convenient for ferry crossing & city providing your active & mobile, we walked into the city over Victoria view / through the tunnel it’s about 4-5 km & steep gradient, went to see the warriors at
the national museum, lovely cosmopolitan vibrant city, took the oriental bay / Evans bay walk back to camper park which follows the harbour much flatter but longer walk about 7-8 km but the views are worth it. Camper park has more parking than indicated on app but still fills up quickly due to location but on site toilets & facilities are good great if heading out on early ferry crossing or want to explore the city

Site not exactly as shown on app but I think it may have just now moved up & it is easy, with the sea to your right turn up gravel road as you go over bridge then drive about 1km up with vineyards either
side, we parked under tall pine trees at end of lake just before beach & near new toilet blocks “Brilliant site & views & facilities good”
Plenty of parking please respect this site or loose it one of the best freedom sites we have stayed at
