Very basic but overal really nice campground.
Note that it is a bit remote - you have to drive about 6km on gravel road to the campground but you are rewarded with a pretty big and really quiet spot by the river near the Lindis Pass hotel ruins.

There is definitely somebody's yard on this address but I doubt that camping is possible here.
Been there and found noone so we went to Amsbury park.

This place definitely has its magic and we can only recommend visiting.
For $10 pp you get unpowered site and quite nice toilets and showers. Powered site for $15. At the top of that Whangamomona is actually an "independent republic" with a nice hotel serving local beer in the middle of beautiful Forgotten World Highway.

About a third of this hike is a moderate walk through the forest which is particularly pleasant on really hot days.
And when we got out of the forest we were more and more surprised with the stunning views. It takes about 2hrs to the small hut (you can refill your water from rainwater tank or maybe even sleep over - about 4 beds). Definitely go for the spur (30 more mins from the hut) - breathtaking view.

If you like sleeping next to a beautiful lake, surely try this one!
The place is great, with good toilets, showers for coins and on top of that - free BBQ!
