Found out after two phone calls that the campsite is closed until Sept 2015.

Great little spot.
Booked through the Auckland City Council website- easy as. Met ‘Uncle Tom’ the care taker. Good piece of advice - don’t pitch your tent near the toilet block. The outdoor lights are ferociously strong. Campsite is only 8km from the Bay View hotel/pub. Nice friendly pub with great meals. Worth a look....

Nice campsite with plenty of space and clean washrooms with good showers.
Stayed here our first night after landing in Auckland. Walked to the beach across the road for a lovely view.

Great peaceful spot with clean facilities.
Lots to do! A short walk to the beach. Bike or walk around the adjacent regional park. The bush is full of bird life. A lovely spot to sit and relax and enjoy reading my book. The ranger is very friendly. There is a dump station across the road. The bonus is you can stay for more than two nights.

Our first campground after getting our campervan in Auckland.
Hot showers, powerplant, nice area. Fires are prohibited but you can go down to the sea and make a nice bonfire. Perfect place to start our camping holiday.

Not much to do around the area, but still a good clean campsite.
